How the Animals Tell the Story of My 33rd Album

My 33rd studio album, 33°, isn’t just a collection of songs — it’s a symbolic journey told through ten animals. Each one represents a stage of awareness, resistance, wisdom, identity, and spiritual victory.

Together, they form what I call “The Ten Witnesses.”

🔟 THE ANIMALS & THEIR MEANING

🐻 THE BEAR

Song: Don’t Feed the Bears
Represents: Strength, danger when provoked, emotional traps, and the wisdom of restraint.
Message: Some forces can’t be controlled — only avoided.

🦅 THE HAWK

Song: Hawk Eye Vision
Represents: Awareness, sharp perception, vigilance, and seeing what others miss.
Message: Vision is a form of protection.

🦅 THE EAGLE

Song: Up Where the Eagles Fly
Represents: Spiritual elevation, freedom, and divine perspective.
Message: Rise above what tries to bind you.

🦨 THE SKUNK (Pepe Le Pew)

Song: On My Trail Like Pepe Le Pew
Represents: Unwanted pursuit, persistence that backfires, underestimated strength.
Message: What chases you doesn’t always win.

🦊 THE FOX

Song: Crazy As a Fox
Represents: Strategy, intelligence, adaptability, and outthinking stronger forces.
Message: Wisdom beats power.

🐑 THE BLACK SHEEP

Song: Black Sheep in the White Mountains
Represents: Standing apart, identity, purpose in being different.
Message: Being set apart is not a curse — it’s a calling.

🐇 THE RABBIT (Br’er Rabbit)

Song: Don’t Be Mad at Br’er Rabbit
Represents: Cultural wisdom, wit, hidden paths, and overcoming through intelligence.
Message: Survival has always been an art.

🦉 THE OWL

Song: My Crime (I’m Smart as a Tree Full of Owls)
Represents: Divine wisdom, night vision, seeing through deception.
Message: Truth still sees in the dark.

🐕 THE HOUND DOG

Song: On It Like a Hound Dog
Represents: Relentless pursuit, focus, loyalty to truth.
Message: Don’t stop chasing what’s right.

🐐 THE GOAT

Song: You’ll Never Get My Goat
Represents: Emotional peace, independence, spiritual stability.
Message: When you can’t be provoked, you’ve already won.

🧭 THE JOURNEY THEY FORM

The animals tell a complete spiritual progression:

Awareness → Resistance → Identity → Wisdom → Victory

From learning not to engage danger…
To seeing clearly…
To outthinking the system…
To standing apart…
To finally standing in peace.

🏔️ WHY “33°”?

The album was written in the Rocky Mountains, where perspective changes.
The higher you go, the more you can see — and the less noise can reach you.
