J.A.L.M.-PUBLISHING Announces Sixth Release: The Incompatibility of Marriage and the Prank A Groundbreaking Biblical Analysis of Deception in Covenant Marriage from a Hebrew Roots Perspective WINTER PARK, CO — May 19, 2026 — J.A.L.M.-PUBLISHING (John Alan Legette Ministries - Publishing) is proud to announce the release of its sixth title, The Incompatibility of Marriage and the Prank: Matrimony Isn't the Place for Games — A Biblical Analysis from a Hebrew Roots Perspective, by John Alan Legette, B.S. Arch. Studies, B-Arch., M.B.A. This 348-page volume, ISBN 979-8-9930127-7-3, represents the most comprehensive Torah-based examination of deception in marriage ever published. The book exposes what the author terms "the marital prank"—any deliberate act of deception, manipulation, mockery, emotional exploitation, or psychological game-playing that one spouse perpetrates against another—and demonstrates, through careful Scriptural exegesis, that a covenant marriage and deliberate deception cannot coexist. "The title says it all," says Legette. "Matrimony isn't the place for games. Yet so many marriages are built on a foundation of half-truths, hidden accounts, weaponized silence, emotional manipulation, and psychological control. These are not minor relationship issues; they are fundamental violations of the covenant." The book draws extensively from the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings, examining the ezer kenegdo (suitable helper) design of Bereshith 2:18, the echad (one flesh) principle, and the Yada (intimate knowing) relationship. It explores the Torah's sexual ethics as they apply to emotional and spiritual fidelity, the prophetic warnings against covenant unfaithfulness, and the wisdom literature's portraits of both the contentious woman and the virtuous woman. The expanded edition includes: A comprehensive 90-day prayer guide with daily themed prayers, Scripture readings, and journaling prompts New chapters on the testimony of the wounded spouse, the Proverbs on the foolish woman, the role of third-party witnesses, and rebuilding trust in parenting A 30-day challenge to eliminate pranking behaviors Diagnostic tools for identifying manipulation, gaslighting, financial secrecy, and other forms of marital deception Detailed examination of modern issues including smartphone secrecy and digital infidelity Structured in eight major parts, the book begins with theological foundations, moves through specific prank behaviors and their spiritual consequences, offers pastoral guidance for both the pranking spouse and the wounded spouse, and concludes with a practical roadmap for restoration and building a prank-free marriage. Legette brings a unique interdisciplinary background to this work, combining academic training in Architectural Studies, Architecture, and Business Administration with years of Torah study and pastoral ministry experience. His writing is both academically rigorous and pastorally accessible. The Incompatibility of Marriage and the Prank will be available in Nov. 2026 through major online retailers and directly from J.A.L.M.-PUBLISHING. The book is suitable for married couples, engaged couples preparing for covenant, marriage counselors and pastors, and anyone seeking a biblical understanding of marriage from a Hebrew Roots perspective.
